Japanese carmaker Mistubishi Motors reported a 47pc de-growth in production at 45,887 units in August compared to the prior-year period.
Domestic production has dipped 48.4pc to 19,115 units in August compared to 2019. Overseas production was recorded at 26,762 units, down 45pc from the year prior August. Total domestic sales slipped 54pc in August to 4,250 units.
In Jan-Aug, 249,052 units were produced in Japan which is 61pc lower compared to same period in 2019. Total production including overseas in eight months was 534,241 units, down almost 60pc from 2019.
Overseas production is down for the tenth consecutive month while domestic production is down for the fourth consecutive month.
Mitsubishi Motors is considering to cut around 500-600 jobs as it is expected to post net loss of JPY360bn at the end of FY21 as sales were drastically hit amid COIVD-19, as reported by global media publications.
