Vancouver-based Nevada Copper has appointed Mike Ciricillo its acting chief executive officer, effective Oct 26. He will replace Evan Spencer.

Ciricillo has more than 20 years of experience in the copper industry, spending the last six years handling Glencore’s copper assets, and 12 years at Freeport-McMoran in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Netherlands.

Spencer has not been able to relocate to the company’s Nevada facility, but he’s nevertheless played an important role in developing the Pumpkin Hollow mine, which restarted production in August and began deliveries this month. He will help Ciricillo in mine planning and with the transition.

Nevada Copper also recently appointed Andre van Niekerk to the position of chief financial officer, along with Dale Ekmark, the former vice president of Detour Gold, as its chief operating officer.
