The National Mineral Developmental Corporation (NMDC) has received approval from the Ministry of Mines to restart the Donimalai iron ore mine in Bellary District in Karnataka. This was tweeted by Prahalad Joshi, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines, on Wednesday.
The minister also tweeted that the State government had announced on December 2 that the lease would be set up in 597.54 hectares of land in Donimalai. The Donimalai mine has an annual production capacity of 7mn mt which was shut down after the NMDC’s lease expired in December 2018.
