The world’s largest aluminum recycler Novelis plans to up the ante on its recycling programs in order to reach a carbon-neutral stage by 2050, along with lower waste and energy consumption in the process. 

 

According to the new environmental targets set by the company, it will reduce carbon emissions by 30pc in the next five years (2026) as well as a 20pc drop in landfill waste and 10pc decrease in energy and water consumption. 

 

Steve Fisher, president and chief executive officer at Novelis, said that the company now aims to be the world’s leading low-carbon aluminum producer and increase its use of recycled content and engage with both customers and suppliers to do so too. This was also on the agenda of the Aluminum Association’s virtual Spring Meeting 2021.
