Nucor plans to build a new tube mill in the Midwest to produce 250,000mt of hollow structural section (HSS) tubing, mechanical steel tubing, and galvanized solar torque tubes. The mill will be operational in the next two years.
The steelmaker noted in a statement on Tuesday that it has invested $164mn in the mill that is slated to increase the steelmaker’s range of infrastructure, construction, and renewable energy products.
Nucor’s Tubular Products (NTP) Group has eight tubular facilities with a total annual production capacity of 1.36mn mt.
