Peru’s mining exports fell by 15pc in October on an annual basis on lower demand for copper, zinc and lead, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (Inei).

 

Shipments of copper were down by 14.5pc in October over the same period last year, Inei said in a statement without disclosing volumes. Peruvian exports of zinc and lead also decreased by 36.1pc and 13.2pc, respectively, in October on an annual basis. Iron ore shipments, on the other hand, rose by 24.1pc in the same month under comparison. 

 

Peru’s copper production rose by 1.4pc to 207,034mt in October this year, from 204,139mt a year ago, while iron ore volumes were up 23.7pc to 1.09mn mt from 883,233mt in the same month last year.
