German luxury sports carmaker, Porsche AG has attracted a huge demand for its Taycan model, which has increased the wait time for the fully electric coupe to another six months, according to reports.

The original production capacity for the Taycan was 20,000 units this year, but the carmaker has sold that many units in H1, according to CEO Oliver Blume.

The VW group unit, which is also facing an acute shortage of semiconductors, like other automakers, has witnessed a huge demand for the Taycan model in China too, which has led to more orders than the automaker can meet.

Usual waiting time for new vehicles was four months, but the unprecedented surge in demand has extended the waiting time to around half a year, added Blume.
