Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

Recyclex is reducing its lead acid battery recycling operations as part of company efforts to practice social distancing and safeguard its employees from COVID-19.

In a statement to investors, the recycler said it was postponing the scheduled maintenance shutdown of its Weser-Metall smelter in Germany and reducing production levels at its used lead-acid batteries recycling plants in France starting Monday. Only its maintenance, receiving and outflow of planned deliveries will stay active.

The company, which carried out extensive restructuring last year, indicated that asset disposal negotiations with its financial partners for the company’s German businesses have been postponed to the end of April.

Recyclex noted operations at its other group companies—Harz-Metall, Norzinco, PPM Pure Metals, and Recytech—will continue as scheduled.

The Recylex Group specializes in recycling lead, zinc, and polypropylene and manufactures high-purity special metals. The group has businesses in France and Germany.
