French used lead batteries recycler, Recylex processed around 41,600mt of scrap lead-acid batteries in H1 2021, up 55pc against the same period last year.

 

The company, which issued its first earnings report after restructuring its operations over the past year to focus only on the lead and plastics segment noted that its revenue grew due to higher lead prices in H1. The company had moved out of the zinc business last year. Recylex indicated that lead prices in H1 2021 averaged around €1,719/mt ($2,034/mt) up 8pc compared to the same timeframe last year.

 

Revenue from lead sales increased by 69pc in H1 2021 to €36.8mn compared to €21.8mn during the same period last year. The company said that the revenue was based on adjustments made after it sold its stake in Germany’s Weser-Metall last year after the latter became insolvent. In Q2 2021, lead sales grew to €22.4mn from €14.4mn in the same period last year.
