Japanese semiconductor manufacturer Renesas is set to resume full operations at its Naka Factory by the end of July after a fire destroyed the factory’s N3 plant in mid-March.

The plant restarted partial operations on Apr 9, according to an update from Renesas on Monday. Hidetoshi Shibata, chief executive officer, noted in an online press conference that it will take 70 more days for the unit to become fully operational.

Renesas contributes about 30pc of the global chip supply and the total reported damage is now 23 machines up from 11 reported previously. The company’s other plants within the complex are operational and were unaffected by the fire.
