Rusal announced the launch of its new aluminium-scandium product called ScAlution for the aerospace industry with lighter properties.
Due to its physical and mechanical properties ScAlution is expected to consume less fuel and create lighter vehicles. Therefore, the product consumption is expected to rise upto 300,00mt per annum by 2035 by many transport and aerospace companies, Rusal said in a statement.
The aluminum manufacturer plans to produce ScAlution master alloys, slabs, billets, wire and powders for additive technologies. Applying these products to the regular production process will help towards countering many challenges faced by the global aluminium industry like reducing the weight of sea ships by about 20pc, the company stated.
