Russia new car sales in February rose marginally by 0.8pc to 120,081 units according to data released by AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee.
January sales were weak compared to 2020 levels but February sales slightly increased relative to last year. Sales in January were down 4pc to 95,213 units. Sales in February is up 26pc compared to the previous month.
March should provide a better picture with sales data coming in from various brands, said AEB. January and February combined sales is down 1.4pc to 215,294 units in 2021 from same period the year prior.

In February Avtovaz, sold the most cars in Russia, 28,272 units, up 13pc from the prior year levels. KIA came in next with about 16,516 units sold, down 3pc from the previous year. Hyundai’s sales stood at 13,841 units, down 4pc. Renault sold 10,171 units in February, flat from 2020 levels. Toyota was the fifth top automaker in terms of sales in February, after reporting 7,640 units, down 7pc from the year prior.
