Steel Dynamics (SDI) has hinted at expanding its Terre Haute cold-roll steel plant by 390,000sq ft with a total investment of $231mn.
The US-based steelmaker’s Heartland facility expansion is expected to create 84 new jobs, according to Jul 29 media reports. SDI may set aside $196.35mn for the construction and $34.65mn for new equipment. However, there is no indication of when the company plans to set this ramp-up in motion or the completion date.
SDI’s steel mill production climbed 5.4pc in H1 2021 with the company looking at more expansions in its flat-rolled plant in Sinton, Texas.
