Export of steel products from China’s Shandong province dropped by 14.5pc in the Jan-Feb period, as compared to the same period the previous year, government agency China Metallurgical News reported on April 8. The COVID-19 situation in China affected exports and imports in Shandong. 


Export of steel products were at 1.467mn mt during the first two months, at an average export price of CNY4,548.4/mt. This is a drop of 2.6pc. The overall value of the exports, at a total of CNY6.67bn, also dropped by 16.7pc. 


Shandong’s import of iron ore and concentrates declined by 27.2pc to 14.213mn mt in Jan and Feb. 


The average import price was CNY640.8/mt, an increase by 25.2pc, though the overall value of imports at CNY9.11bn was a decline of 8.9pc.
