Taiwan’s stainless steel scrap imports rose by 98pc in October from the same period last year. 

 

The country imported 33,691mt of stainless steel scrap in October, up by 16,681mt from October last year. 

 

The US was the largest supplier of stainless steel scrap to Taiwan in October. 

 

Taiwan imported 14,325mt from the US, up by 7,412mt from the same period last year. 

 

Japan was the second largest supplier of stainless steel scrap to Taiwan with imports of 3,212mt in October, up by 767mt from the prior year period.

 

Taiwan’s stainless steel scrap imports from Jan-Oct 2019 also went up by 72.6pc, from the prior year period. 

 

Taiwan imported 346,824mt in this period, up by 145,862mt from Jan-Oct 2018. 

 

The largest supplier of stainless steel scrap in this period was also the US, which supplied 121,969mt to Taiwan. 

 

The second largest supplier of stainless steel scrap was Japan, which supplied 57,306mt, while the Netherlands supplied 42,070mt. 

 

US was the top supplier of stainless steel scrap to Taiwan in Jan-Oct 2018, having exported 67,965mt, 79.5pc lower than same period this year. 

 

Netherlands was the second largest supplier, with exports of 34,485mt, 22pc lower than this year, and Japan which climbed into second place in 2019, was the third largest with supplies of 24,871mt, 130pc lower than in Jan-Oct 2019.
