Taiwan’s stainless steel scrap imports in November rose by 63.5pc to 27,833mt, up by 10,812mt from the prior year.

 

US, the top supplier, exported 10,843mt of stainless steel scrap to Taiwan in November, up by 45pc or 3,386mt from the prior year, followed by exports from the UK, which shot up by 3107pc to 3,496mt, from 109mt in November 2018.

 

In November 2018, the Netherlands was the second largest supplier of stainless steel scrap to Taiwan, but in 2019, exports to Taiwan halved. The Netherlands exported 1,417mt of stainless scrap, down by 45pc from 2,607mt in November the prior year.

 

Supply of stainless steel scrap from Japan rose by 30.4pc to 2,321mt, from 1,780mt in November 2018. Exports from Thailand also jumped to 1,964mt, from 580mt, a rise of 238.6pc.

 

in the Jan-Nov 2019 period, Taiwan’s imports of stainless steel scrap increased by 71.9pc or 156,674mt, to 374,657mt from 217,983mt in the same period prior year.
