China-based HBIS Tangshan Iron and Steel (Tangsteel) expanded its cold rolling mill #2 in the Tangshan plant with the installation of two continuous galvanizing lines. One of the lines is now equipped with aluminum-silicon coating technology.
The existing cold rolling mill begin production in early 2015 and was originally installed by Primetals Technologies. The mill contains a tandem pickling line, a continuous annealing line and a galvanizing line with a 1.8mn mt annual capacity.
The new coated, high-strength metal sheeting capacity has increased the plant’s production capacity by 36pc or 650,000mt annually. The lines will process automotive parts and aluminum-coated hot-forming steel. Primetals installed a CGL 5 with a capacity of 250,000mt annually and CGL 6 with a capacity of 400,000mt.
HBIS Tangsteel, is part of the 47mn mt annual capacity of Hesteel Group, one of the largest steel producers in China.
