Tata Motors’ group sales in Q4 jumped 43pc to 330,125 units compared to the prior year quarter, according to its sales figures reported on April 14.

Segment wise growth

Global commercial vehicle and Tata Daewoo sales accounted to 109,428 units, up 55pc from Q4 last year.

Passenger vehicle sales in Q4 rose 39pc to 220,697 units from the prior year period levels. Jaguar sales stood at 31,814 units and Land Rover sales at 104,647 units.

Company’s sales have picked up in Q4 on the back of string consumer demand against a weak Q4 of 2020 when the COVID-19 induced lockdowns hurt the auto sector deeply.

Temporary plant closure

Tata Motors Pune manufacturing plant in the state of Maharashtra has halted production, but urgent orders like exports, ambulance production and defence orders will be delivered. The company is yet to respond to calls from Davis Index.

According to media, the Maharashtra government has ordered some manufacturing units to stop working on the back of stringent lockdown to curb the rising COVID-19 cases. Tata Motors is currently working with a reduced workforce for the essential work.
