Davis Index: Market Intelligence for the Global Metals and Recycled Materials Markets

The weekly Davis Index for Turkish DKP scrap (equivalent to bonus grade) rose by TRY62/mt ($8/mt) to TRY2,102/mt delivered on Monday and increased by TRY61/mt ($8/mt) to TRY1,989/mt delivered for extra grade scrap (equivalent to HMS 1&2 [85:15]).

 

Most Turkish mills raised their purchase prices on August 11-13 amid significant Turkish lira devaluation against the US dollar.

 

Colakoglu Metalurji and Diler Demir Celik increased their purchase prices by TRY70/mt and are now buying DKP grade at TRY2,115/mt delivered and TRY2,060/mt delivered, respectively. Colakoglu Metalurji is purchasing extra grade at TRY1,970/mt delivered, while Diler Demir Celik is buying the material at TRY1,960/mt delivered.

 

Erdemir also lifted its purchase prices by TRY70/mt to TRY2,165/mt delivered for DKP grade and to TRY2,160/mt delivered for extra grade, while Isdemir kept them unchanged at TRY1,965/mt delivered for DKP grade and at TRY1,960/mt delivered for extra grade.

 

Kardemir raised its purchase prices by TRY35/mt to TRY2,215/mt delivered for DKP grade and to TRY2,055/mt delivered for extra grade.

 

Purchase prices for shipbreaking scrap in Izmir remained flat at $275/mt delivered over the past week.
