The daily Davis Index for Turkish imports of US-origin HMS 1&2 (80:20) decreased by $3.29/mt to $284.84/mt cfr on Wednesday, as mills achieved lower prices for scrap from the UK and the Azov-Black Sea basin.
An Iskenderun-based mill purchased 22,000mt of HMS 1&2 (80:20) at $277/mt cfr from the UK, while a mill in Marmara purchased HMS 1&2 (80:20) from Romania at $270/mt cfr. Another Marmara-based mill bought the same grade from Bulgaria for $268/mt cfr.
Demand remains weak despite these reported deals and many Turkish importers anticipate scrap prices to continue decreasing, with market participants intending to purchase HMS 1&2 (80:20) from the US and the Baltic region at below $280/mt cfr.
