Turkish companies exported 2.79mn mt of hot-rolled coils (HRC) in 2020 compared with 3.22mn mt in 2019 amid a challenging market and trade tensions with the European Union.
According to statistical source SteelData, HRC shipments from Turkey to Italy, Spain, and Portugal decreased by 12.9pc, 45.2pc, and 45.2pc to 905,000mt, 324,000mt, and 107,000mt, respectively, but increased to Bulgaria by 19.9pc to 155,000mt during the period under review.
Export of HRC from Turkey to Egypt and Iraq rose by 29.8pc and 70.5pc to 364,000mt and 121,000mt, respectively.
Turkey supplied 116,000mt of HRC to Pakistan last year compared with 57,000mt in 2019. The country’s HRC shipments to South Africa and China totaled 96,000mt and 92,000mt, respectively, according to SteelData.
