Steel billet exports from Turkey increased by 26pc from January-May 2021 compared to the same period last year, according to statistical source SteelData.

 

Turkish producers exported 409,000mt of semis during the period under review versus 323,000mt in the first five months of 2020 following better demand at foreign outlets. Billet shipments to Morocco dropped by 40pc to 91,000mt but increased more than twice to 78,000mt to Peru. Turkey’s semis exports to Tunisia increased by 75pc to 57,000mt.

 

Turkish companies supplied 51,000mt of billet to Guatemala during January-May 2021, 45,000mt to China, and 19,000mt to El Salvador, while there were no shipments to these countries within the same timeframe last year, according to SteelData.
