Davis Index – Daily metal prices, scrap prices & global metal market

British dockside ferrous scrap collection benchmarks are primed to fall for a third consecutive week as large local processors dropped their list prices in response to subdued steel market fundamentals in major seaborne destinations.

Bulk exporters have offered some suppliers as low as £150/mt for HMS 1&2 and £175/mt for OA (Plate & Structural) delivered Liverpool and Manchester respectively.

The deal would represent yet another weekly decline of approximately £10-12/mt for a third consecutive week, should prices conclude at these levels. Elsewhere, however, there was anecdotal evidence that another large supplier has been more aggressive with their price reductions.

Davis Index has heard unconfirmed rumours that one bulk exporter has slashed their collection prices to some suppliers for HMS 1&2, OA (Plate & Structural) and 5A/5C to £145/mt, £170/mt and £85/mt delivered Liverpool.
