The US will extend anti-dumping and countervailing duties on certain stainless pipe from China for another five years, effective Dec 6.
The USITC and Commerce ruled that its industry would continue to be harmed by the removal of duties on welded austentic stainless steel pressure pipes (WSSP), during a second sunset review of the duties that were first instated in 2009.
The duties apply to pipes not greater than 14inches diameter. The decision was taken on the basis of objections raised by domestic manufacturers Bristol Metals, Felker Brothers, and Webco Industries who said that a revocation of duties would lead to a recurrence of dumping or countervailable subsidies causing injury to their industry.
Commerce excluded boiler, heat exchanger, superheater, refining furnace tubing and welded stainless mechanical tubing from the scope of the review.
