The US Department of Commerce has imposed preliminary countervailing duties for certain corrosion-resistant steel products (CORE) from South Korea for the period of review (POR) from January 1, 2019, to December 31, 2019.
In a notification on Jul 12, Commerce noted that an investigation revealed some South Korean producers had received unfair subsidies for the subject merchandise exported to the US during the POR.
Commerce has subsequently levied a minimum CVD of 0.48pc on Hyundai Steel and 10.52 KG Dongbu Steel, Dongbu Incheon Steel, and companies not individually reviewed.
Upon publishing the final results, Commerce intends to instruct Custom Border Protection (CBP) to collect cash deposits of the estimated CVD in the amounts listed above on subject merchandise entered, or withdrawn on or after the date of publication.
