Steel shipments from US mills decreased by 15.8pc to 81mn nt (71.34mn mt) in 2020 from 96.17mn nt in the previous year, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
In December 2020, US mills shipped 7.04mn nt, down 12.1pc from 8.02mn nt shipped during the same month in 2019. However, shipments increased by 12.1pc from November’s tally of 6.75mn nt.
Compared to the previous month, the shipments of hot-rolled sheets in December increased by 3pc, and galvanized sheets rose by 2pc. However, cold-rolled sheet shipments declined by 3pc in December on a monthly basis.
