VE Commercial Vehicles, a joint venture of Eicher and Volvo Group commenced production at its new truck plant in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. 

 

In the first phase, the plant will have the capacity to manufacture 40,000 trucks annually. This is the India-based auto maker’s eighth manufacturing facility in the Indian state and is set-up with Industry 4.0 standards, said a company release. 

 

VECV expects several auto ancillary units to start production at the Bagroda Industrial area. 

 

The plant will cater to domestic demand and also target new export markets under the Make in India initiatives, said Vinod Aggarwal, MD & CEO of VECV.

 

VECV was formed in 2008 that manufactures complete range of Eicher branded trucks and buses, Volvo Buses, and is involved in exclusive distribution of Volvo Trucks in India, engine manufacturing and exports for Volvo Group, non-automotive engines and Eicher component business.
