Copper producer and distributor Wieland is expanding its operations in North America with the acquisition of Connecticut-based distributor The Miller Company.

The Germany-headquartered copper firm indicated in a statement on Jul 2 that the acquisition would not only strengthen its global distribution network but will help the company expand its reach in the North American region.

The Miller Company, based in Meriden, Connecticut, provides copper-based strip alloys across the US. Founded in 1820 in Ulm, Germany, Wieland sold around 642,000mt of copper alloys, processes, and products in FY 2019-2020.

The Miller Company is Wieland’s second acquisition this year. In January, the producer bought Florida-headquartered Wrisco Industries, an aluminum products supplier to enhance its aluminum products portfolio in North America. The company also recently announced plans to open a new copper recycling center in Kentucky by H2 2022.
