China’s Zhongtian Iron and Steel Group plans to start construction a new iron and steel plant in Nantong city in Jiangsu province with an annual capacity to produce 6.06mn mt of iron and 5.85mn mt of steel, as per China’s guidelines for transfer of steel capacities. The new plant includes a blast furnace of 1300 cubic meters, two blast furnaces of 2400 cubic meters and three blast furnaces of 190 mt.
The project will be developed under the Changzhou city’s 2020 program for transformation of production capacity and upgradation of steel mills. As per this plan, the city government will orderly transfer capacity of Zhongtian Iron and Steel to the coastal area.
